Power tools can help to create neutral nursery

People can use power tools to fit giant alphabet hooks to the backs of nursery doors or blackboards on the wall to make the room child friendly, an expert has recommended.

Design expert Bunny Turner told the Guardian that people need to be realistic when creating the nursery, as scribbling on the wall is an "inevitable scenario in children's rooms". She advised embracing this by drawing outlines on the walls for the kids to fill in.

"Alternatively if the thought is too much to bear, include a blackboard in the room so they have a designated doodle area," she added.

Other advice from the expert for people using power tools to create a nursery is to retain a neutral background colour scheme, to keep it non-gender specific.

However, she said that colour needs to be added elsewhere to avoid the room feeling cold and harsh.

The Independent recently said that decorating rooms for older children, around the age of six, is tricky as they want bright colours and parents want something which will be likeable for more than six months.

However, it advised that people use power tools to ensure there is a lot of storage, while using stickers to decorate walls.ADNFCR-2858-ID-19652924-ADNFCR
