Retrofitting properties 'crucial' in fight against climate change

People using Ryobi tools to complete home improvements in order to reduce their carbon emissions are helping to bring the UK's housing stock up to scratch, according to an expert.

Gordon Miller, founder of whatgreenhome.com, said that there has been a huge commitment from the government to reduce carbon outputs and he thinks addressing the energy-efficiency of the current housing stock is vital.

He said: "Clearly retrofitting and bringing the existing homes up to speed is absolutely critical if we are going to meet our own emissions targets and reduce CO2 emissions."

Mr Miller added that there is a legal requirement for the UK to reduce emissions by 80 per cent by 2050 and using Ryobi tools to complete improvements would help the country reach its goal.

DIY expert Chris Crombie recently told ThisIsMoney.co.uk that because people need to save money they are more likely to take on tasks themselves and embrace creativity using power tools.
